The Economic Development Program is designed to assist local governments affected by Hurricane Katrina provide infrastructure to support economic development. The program provides grants or loans to local governments to assist companies in creating or retaining jobs. There is $340,000,000 allocated to this program. The Community Revitalization Program provides funds to local governments to help rebuild their downtown areas that were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. There is $150,000,000 allocated for this program. $10,000,000 has also been allocated to local governments located in Pearl River, Stone, George, Hancock, Harrison and Jackson Counties to assist them in preparing community plans.
